Why dealers make the move
The website is the part shoppers judge you on
Your DMS runs the store. The site is what a shopper decides on, usually on a phone, usually in under a minute.
An all-in-one is only as good as its weakest module
Operations software and shopping experiences are different problems. The site doesn’t have to be whatever came in the bundle.
Keep what works
This isn’t a rip-and-replace of your operating system — it’s replacing one module with a platform built for it.
Questions dealers ask about switching
How does migration to Overfuel work?
Overfuel manages the heavy lifting so your team can stay focused on running the dealership. Once you approve the project, we establish a launch plan, gather the information and access we need, and coordinate the transition from your existing website.
Your dealership typically provides:
- Primary dealership contacts and decision-makers
- Brand standards, logos, and other required creative assets
- Access or authorization for applicable inventory, CRM, DMS, analytics, and third-party systems
- OEM requirements or program information, when applicable
- Current promotions, department information, staff details, and other dealership-specific content
- Feedback and approval during the website review process
Overfuel handles:
- Website design and configuration
- Inventory feed setup and testing
- Migration or recreation of important website content
- SEO migration planning, including URL mapping and redirects
- Technical SEO and structured data
- Integration of approved CRM, digital retail, trade-in, chat, scheduling, and other dealership tools
- Google Analytics, Search Console, and applicable tracking configuration
- Mobile and desktop quality assurance
- Inventory, lead-routing, form, and conversion testing
- Domain and DNS launch coordination
- Final pre-launch review and go-live
Before launch, we also review your existing website and technology stack to identify dependencies to preserve during the transition. The goal is a managed migration, not handing your dealership a website project to figure out on its own.
What happens to our existing URLs and search rankings?
Redirects and page structure are preserved. Our migration process is built to protect existing SEO equity: it maintains page structure and implements comprehensive 301 redirects from old URLs to their new equivalents, so link equity and relevance signals carry over rather than getting lost.
Some short-term fluctuation is normal and not a sign of failure. Any platform migration forces Google to re-crawl, re-index, and re-evaluate the new site, because new URLs, redirects, page speed, internal links, and updated sitemaps all have to be reprocessed. Even with perfect redirects, rankings do not transfer instantly.
Typical timeline:
- Many migrations see a 10–20% temporary traffic dip shortly after launch.
- Fluctuations from an Overfuel migration tend to stabilize within 2–6 weeks.
- Full recovery and stabilization generally happen within 4–12 weeks, with some more complex sites taking 30–60 days.
In most cases, dealers do not see a meaningful lasting loss of traffic or leads. Many dealers see performance improve afterward, as Google recognizes faster page speed, cleaner technical SEO architecture, and better Core Web Vitals on the new platform.
How long does it take to launch?
Timelines depend on your vertical and the complexity of your inventory:
- Independent auto dealer — typically 30 days from the onboarding call
- OEM auto dealer — typically 30–45 days
- RV, powersports, marine, heavy machinery, cargo van, and golf cart dealers — typically 45–60 days, reflecting greater inventory complexity and feature requirements
Multi-location and enterprise groups do not follow a standard timeline; the onboarding team builds a custom forecast.
The clock starts as soon as the onboarding call is scheduled. The biggest lever on speed is how quickly you provide access to the core systems needed to build the site: domain access (if you do not control your domain, onboarding cannot start), CRM, Google Analytics, and Google Business Profile. Staying responsive with the onboarding team is what keeps a launch on the faster end of these ranges.
What if we are still under contract with our current provider?
You may not have to wait until your current contract expires to make a change. Depending on your dealership category, the length of your remaining contract, your current provider, and other factors, Overfuel is open to discussing creative options that may help you migrate before your existing agreement ends.
Share your current contract and expiration date with our team, and we will explore whether there is a transition option that makes financial sense for your dealership.
Your existing agreement remains between you and your current provider, and you remain responsible for any contractual obligations associated with that agreement.
